Brooks Falls, Alaska

The following are behind-the-scenes photos of our August 2006 documentary shoot as David Farber and his nurse, Amy Berta, trekked into Katmai National Park photographing wild grizzly bears. To get to his final destination of Brooks Falls, Alaska, wheelchair-bound David had to travel for days. First, he took a large plane from Chicago to Anchorage; next, a smaller plane from Anchorage to King Salmon; and then a single-engine floatplane from King Salmon to the bear-inhabited beaches of Brooks camp.

When the movie is finished and released, this site will include photos from the documentary itself. For now, we will share with you a few "scrapbook" photos of our filmmaker experience.

During our last hours among populated civilization, we note that the luggage carts at Anchorage airport have instructions both in English and a Native American tongue. (Photo by Stephanie Book)
